What's Oldfield Park Baptist Church actually like for students?
OPBC is a welcoming, family-oriented church with a heart for letting the good news of Jesus be known in our local community. Our Sunday morning and evening services follow in the classic baptist format, with a mixture of traditional and contemporary worship songs and cracking bible-rooted teaching. In addition to Sunday services, we also have home groups meeting regularly in the week in order to encourage and build one-another up in a smaller, more intimate context.
We also have a number of family, youth and childrens' ministries running throughout the week so that the love of Jesus can be felt by Oldfield Park at large.
So what do students do at Oldfield Park Baptist Church?
Well we seem to be thrown in at the deep end by the look of things! OPBC isn't one of those churches with a segregated, highly specialised student ministry. Instead, we're a growing church family who desperately need people who want to get stuck in! There are burgeoning areas of the church which need young people to provide energy, enthusiasm, and bit of time in order to reach out to the local community effectively. Things like our holiday club, creche and music teams all need people to get involved, and you could be the person for the job!
That's not to say that members of the church are not fed enough! The Sunday morning and evening services are a great time for learning God's will for our lives, and mid-week home groups are a fantastic opportunity for fellowship and prayer in a more intimate setting.
I hope that goes some way to answering your questions, but the best way to really appreciate what OPBC is all about is for you to experience it yourself! For the first few weeks of term we're going to be offering a free lunch after the morning service, which is a great incentive for you to come along and hang out with us, chat with us, and see how things really are.
